Instructions to Unzip & Play Video Lesson Files
Follow the steps below to download the video lessons to your computer, save them to your Desktop, and check them for viruses. File sizes vary; thus download times will vary.
- Click each link.
- After Clicking each link, a File Download dialog box will open. Click the Save option to save the file to your Desktop.
- A Save As dialog box will open. Desktop should appear in the Save in address bar. Click Save.
- When the download is complete, a Download Complete dialog box will appear. Click Close.
- A zipped folder icon will appear on your Desktop for each lesson. Before opening each folder, run a virus check on it: Right Click on the zipped folder icon and Select the Scan option. If virus free, proceed to the next step. If a virus alert appears, follow the steps your virus-scanning software provides. (Note: We scan the files we have uploaded. However, it is good computing practice to scan all downloaded files for viruses.)
- Right Click on each folder and select the Extract all option. Follow the extraction wizard steps.
After the extraction process is complete, another folder will appear on your Desktop. It will contain the three files listed below that must be present on your computer in order to play the video lesson. Click on the .smil file to play the video lesson.
- Camtasia file with the extension .camv
File sizes run 1,000 KB to 3,900 KB.
- RealMedia file with the extension .rm
File sizes run 500 KB to 800 KB.
- SMIL file with the extension .smil
